Aloha,
I just installed TB to use the imap feature with my gmail account. I
went through the google setup info and I get the following message
"Connection to server imap.gmail.com timed out." I set TB "Connection
timeout: 1200 seconds" with no change. I turned off firewall, that did
not help. I ping imap.gmail.com which timed out with no response.
Any ideas?

Well, you have to enable IMAP at Google before you could use it.

Go to settings POP / IMAP and enable IMAP.

Did you enable IMAP on Gmail via the web? Gmail is working just fine
in my neck of the woods.

Did you set it to use a secure connection (SSL - port 993) ?

You have to use SSL encryption, which will change the port to 993.
