When searching all folders it seems that the Trash folders are not
included in the search.

Is there an option somewhere to include the Trash folders in the ctrl-
K ALL search?

If not, what is the best way to make sure that all Trash folders are
searched when looking for that lost message that was received
recently, but seems to have disappeared?

Is there really not one person who can tell me the easiest method to
search through everything including the trash folders?

It is excluded in the source code and there is no preference available
to affect it. At the present time, to get the function you desire you
must obtain the source, alter it to suit, and compile.

I just did it outside Thunderbird. I located the mail folder and used a
text search utility in Windows. It found something in the trash folder,
so that ought to work for you.

I just start with the highest message in the Trash folder open.
I use version 1.5.0.14 (20071210)

That is what I was afraid of...

I hope some of the programmers reading this will consider adding true
global search as a preference.

Personally, I would say that half the time I am looking for something,
it is in the trash.

I know I can search the trash when I don't find it initially, but it
is a PITA to do that when you are not sure whether the negative result
was because you searched on the wrong word, or the message was filed
in the trash.
