Hi All.

I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 2 to Thunderbird 3.

I am running XP (SP2) and installed v3 via the update function in v2 (therefore followed the default installation processes).

Since upgrading however:

1. It does not change the 'Read/unread' status after opening an an e-mail (this is not the case for other machines in the office running v3).

2. Randomly it often does not appear to open all attachments when I double click on them; it just sits there doing nothing. In these cases, I have to detatch the file before I can save/open.

3. It does not download a local copy of any email automatically; only does so upon manually forcing it syncronise. This the most annoying quirk I constantly have to syncronise before shutting my system down (if I forget, then I cannnot complete the days emails when I am flying etc.....until I next am on-line.

Cheers, technologistau.

Goto Tools > Options > Advanced > Reading & Display.
Check what is your setting for 'Read'.

When such will happen again, goto Tools > Error console. Click on Clear
button there to clear all previously logged errors.
Now try to open any such problematic attachments by double clicking it.
Do you find any error logged in error console?

Assuming it's a POP account.
Goto Tools > Account Settings > that problematic account server settings.
Make it sure that these two options have following setting
'Automatically download new messages' - Enabled.
'Fetch headers only' - Disbaled.
