Unfortunately the Add-on "Get All Mail Button Thunderbird" has not been
updated for Thunderbird version 78 so far.

In Thunderbird's standard user interface, there is a button called "Get
Messages" for the toolbar. The first option in this button's drop-down
menu is called "Get all new messages".

I would like a button with the "Get all new messages" feature that
activates all my email and news accounts with one click.
The feature itself is already in Thunderbird...

Can't you accomplish that by coordinating the settings of each
account?

Tools... Account Settings... Server Settings (for each, all, and every
account separately)... and under 'Server Settings' in each, check mark
the first three options so that each accounts' responses are sync'ed.

If you still need to hustle up the latest... as you say... 'Shift+F5'
exists.

I miss an update of that plugin as well (there's always a bunch of
frustrations and time consuming fixes after each update of TB in my
experience), but I'm curious what you mean when you say "the feature
itself is already in Thunderbird".

You mean it's built-in but not used?

Like "Nobody" wrote: 'Shift+F5' does the same.
The function is already in Thunderbird.
I like to have a button on the toolbar that does 'Shift+F5' after
clicking it.

It may or may not be used depending upon the user.

You select the down caret in the "Get Messages" Mail Toolbar button and
then "Get All New Messages" instead of just clicking "Get Messages".

I've never used the extension, so I use the two-step method if/when I
want to see if all my accounts have new messages.

My Thunderbird is configured to get all messages on startup for all
accounts and they are staggered to periodically check.

IMAP accounts have this interesting feature called "Allow immediate
server notifications when new messages arrive" in Server Settings of
Account Settings.

I read someplace (here or otherwise) that the 'get all messages' only gets mail. It does not get news. At least my experience. My
settings are to get mail and messages every 10 min. If I read all the news, and wait 7 minutes and do a get all, I get no news. If I touch
each newsgroup in the folder tree and force it to get, I see messages. So it's my feeling 'get all' does not.

It supposedly works for NNTP too. Go into 'Server Serttings' for each
news account (if you have multiples, or like me just one Mozilla for
TB and Ffox support), and check the first two boxes under 'server
settings' in the same way as for each mail account

That relies on server side notifications, a feature / function that
isn't always reliable (for various reasons).

It certainly works for me on three gmail accounts and one outlook
account. I can generally hear the notifications coming through to my
laptop/TB at the same time as they appear on my phone.

Clarification: Not all IMAP servers / service providers support or have
it enabled.

If it works, great! But it not working is not a bug.

I noted that above. But yes, I have both news servers I have set to get on startup and every 10 minutes.
Still no good. I just did a get all, and window-10 newsgroup had no new messages, but clicking the group brought up one new message.

Aside: I've found that if you click the twisty to close the news server
account and then click it again to re-open it, then Thunderbird will
re-check all subscribed newsgroups without needing to click on each one
of them.

What does it do differently than clicking Get Messages > Get All New
Messages from the Mail Toolbar? Only provide a button to save a step?

Don't need it.

Yes. I have replaced the "Get messages" button by this "Get All Mail"
button, saving a mouse move and click every time I use it.

What happens if you just click on the "Get Messages" button rather than
dropping down the list and selecting either "Get All New Messages" or
one of the accounts listed? I thought just clicking on the button did a
the same thing as selecting "Get All New Messages". Is that not correct?

What happens is it checks for messages in the account you are in currently.

Clicking Get Messages > Get All New Messages gets messages for all accounts.

I just set up the accounts to poll at different intervals and upon startup.
