Disclaimer: I don't do it but I searched no quotes 'sync lightning
google calendar' and found some interesting articles.

There is also a support group here for m.s.calendar.

Sorry, what is m.s.calendar? Outlook?

Add the "Provider for Google Calendar" extension and restart. Add a new
calendar, select Google Calendar, add your email address for that
calender, log in, wait a moment or two while it syncs, and that's it.

gContactSync extension does the same for Google contacts, (adds them as
an address book) if you're interested.

I use CalDav which is supported by both Lightning and Google
Calendar. You may have use of other (non-Google) calendars e.g. gmx,
where there won't be an add-on for Thunderbird. CalDav is therefore
a more general solution.

"CalDav" appears as one of the calendar format types when you add the
networked calendar. The main inconvenience is having to grub around the
calendar provider's website (or elsewhere) to find the correct URL and
its formulation.

location-url-of-their-caldav-calendars/>

I've always had enormous trouble finding the right URLs for M$
services. My reading on stack overflow etc leads me to believe that M$
don't expose their service in useful way.

Maybe this add-on could be useful:

Yes, but it is not nearly as nice of a solution for Google Calendars as
when using the Provider Addon. It provides the ability to choose what
additional calendars you want, and setup is about as painless as it gets.

Use pure CalDAV for others when needed, sure, but then, Thunderbird's
CalDAV support isn't that great as it is.
