Just installed Thunderbird 2. I keep getting the popup "Thunderbird
can't connect securely to secnews.netscape.com because the site uses a
security protocol which isn't enabled." I had no such problem with the
previous version of Thunderbird. What do I need to configure to make
accessing that server work? Thanks.

I've lost track of which groups are on each server, but why not connect
news.mozilla.org using SSL ? That works for me using TB2, and if the
content is the same then it's safer not to re-enable broken ciphers.

isn't this a (stupid) strange situation though?? What the devs have
done is - no doubt - some kind of "security update" --- and they have
removed the enability to connect to a secure server! Just how sick can
they get!

The groups the OP is trying to access are probably not available on on
news.mozilla.org. There are different hosts.

Generalizing it to "removed the ability to connect to a secure server"
is factually incorrect. As Nick stated "connect news.mozilla.org using
SSL ? That works for me using TB2."
