If I mark a thread as "Ignore Thread", is the thread stored on my PC for
comparison/testing each time the NG is accessed ? If so, how long does
it stay stored ?

Also, can having too many Ignored threads cause TB to act slow while
loading headers ?

This depends on your settings.  Have you looked at this picture:

Probably!!.  The thing you need to take into account is that with so many posts in your account can sometime corrupt the folder and so this might have an impact on the efficiency of the TB engine.  For newsgroups I don't keep any old posts that are older than 30 days.  It used to be 1 day but now I have so many filters in place that I rarely see any posts on Windows newsgroups.  Some odd ones comes in when somebody has changed their name or other details that my filter may not know about it.  Windows 10 is very bad these days so filters are necessary.

Thanks for the info. I did not realize that "Ignored Threads" would be
treated same as a "Marked as Read" threads.

However that seems to imply that after some time, an "Ignored Thread"
would become "UNignored" if permanently deleted by whatever parameter
was selected.

It still amazes me how a thread that starts off as a simple Q&A can
ramble off on all manner of tangents for weeks and months. Not to
mention the political rants, and the NGs that have been effectively
taken over as personal blogs. :-(

I've always has "Ignore (sub) Thread" behave slightly differently than
"Mark as Read". It does hide them. But it doesn't mark them as read.
As in counters for the folder still show the ignored threads as unread.

I've LONG wanted that feature to be fixed.

Ignored (or not) performance is highly dependent on how many messages
are in the folder. Ignored status has little to do with it.

Yep. This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
