Hi all,
Recently I've read that Tb 3 has the ability to quote only selected text
when replying.
Though when I read a message, select a part of text and press ctrl+r it
doesn't seem to work: it would include the whole message.
What can I do to fix this?
Regards,

You have to stay in shape. My mother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 now and we have no idea where she is.

Try selecting the text and clicking the reply button.

Are you selecting single word or a line with atleast multiple words?
I believe, by design, it doesn't work when a single word or whitespace
is selected before hitting reply button.

Not sure about the hotkey, but using the Reply button works.

Thanks for point that out to me. That's something I've been looking
forward to a long time.

I use the 'reply' icon in the toolbar, but as you can see, it works for me.

Select the text you want to quote in the reply first, then hit Ctrl-r.
It works fine here.

Same here. I just wish it would insert a blank line before your cursor.

Thanks! I didn't know that. I'm still using TB 2.x where I have
installed the QuickQuote add-on for this reason. Unfortunately, it
doesn't work under 3.x. QuickQuote has more options, but I'm willing to
dump it for the select-quote-reply option when I make the switch to 3.x.

Now I only need an update for Correct Identity (and Lightning; I know
about the nightly builds)...

Maybe I have to toggle an option first? Really can't get it to work. I
select a portion of text by hitting shift key with arrows, but nothing
happens.

Highlight the text you want to quote, by clicking and dragging the
mouse, then click the reply button.

Works great here. Do you have anything like a clipboard program
operational?

It doesn't use the clipboard.

Goto Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor.

Type

mailnews.reply_quoting_selection

If it's value isn't True then double click on the preference name to set
it True.

Do same for mailnews.reply_quoting_selection.multi_word
Also check if value of this preference is blank

mailnews.reply_quoting_selection.only_if_chars
