I have a client how has hit the storage limit on Google Apps, I need
to archive SOME mail.

I selected some emails with large attachments, set the "Message
Archives" settings to Local Folders and "Archived" the Emails.

I watched them appear in local storage and disappear from the "All
Mail" Folder.

Came back this morning and all archived messages are all back in the
"All Mail" folder.

Any Ideas on how to archive(move) from gmail to thunderbird local
storage, in an automated fashion. I guess I could just go delete the
copied messages but it makes me weary that I could be deleting
something that was not moved.

Maybe these messages have more than one label, which means that they
exist in more than one folder. Just login at GMail and check one of
those messages
