When I read an RSS posting in TB8.0 from this site:
http://enclave-nashville.blogspot.com/2011/12/fehr-school-update.html
One tab (sometimes two) opens in FX8.0:

Does this seem like a configuration problem on the blogger's site? Or is
this something wrong in TB/FX? Or maybe it's some nefarious Google plot
or another?

There is a "+1" Recommend this on Google icon at the bottom of the
posting..

Thanks,

David

David,

Kindly post the url of RSS feed you are subscribed to. Unfortunately I'm
unable to find it in blog page. Also kindly point us to a specific post
that we can use to reproduce this issue at our end. Thanks.

Hi Nir -- the url is:
http://enclave-nashville.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

A specific post is this one, from 12/4/11:
http://enclave-nashville.blogspot.com/2011/12/recipe-and-north-end-cultural-history.html

However, this occurs every time I view any post in Thunderbird from this
feed. I suspect it's a configuration problem with the blog or its
template or something..

'nefarious plot' is close. if your pref javascript.enabled is set to
true (default is true), js will run in web pages in rss feeds. the js
on that page wants to open that link, and it goes to firefox.

you can set the pref to false, or you can set the feed to open a summary
(in subscribe). you can always double click the message to then toggle
the web page.

Well, using Summary didn't do the trick.. although now, instead of
opening two pages (as above), it only opens one.. did I mention those
pages in Fx are both blank?

David,

There are two solutions to your problem.
One is what art already has suggested to you, i.e, turn js support off.
Another one is as follows:

Under 'View' menu, goto 'Feed Message body as', and select Summary.
I believe the issue lies in the link to embedded image at the end of
every post. Switching to Summary view or turning js support off will
stop following embedded link from lunching firefox window.

thanks, Nir... View | Feed Message Body As" | Summary did the trick..
I had tried that by editing the Feed Subscription with no joy -- all's
well now!
