operating system you are using.
I'm posting this with Thunderbird 52.2.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Linux.
What address files are you trying to Import? If you have been using
Thunderbird for any length of time, all your addresses should be there.
What's invisible? You don't need to use the address book to enter an
email address in the To: field of the Composition window, just start
typing the name of the recipient.
If you want to use the address book, select the name from the address
book, right click and select Write from the context menu. That
automatically opens the Composition window with the To: filed filled in.
