Hello everyone,

how can a search for a mail with a certain attachment name be done? This
mail:

[...]
--------------000001010308050100030808
Content-Type: application/pdf;
name="4180.pdf"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="4180.pdf"
[...]

cannot be found: neither with global search (crtl-k) "4180.pdf", nor
with list filter "4180.pdf" (crtl-shift-k with message content
selected), nor with ctrl-shift-f > mail body (german: Inhalt) > contains
> "4180.pdf". None of these ways displays the e-mail, which obviously
does exist.

The only thing that finds my mail is a server side

grep "4180.pdf" Maildir/

which walks through the whole IMAP store.

But there must be end user compatible ways to do the trick...?

That is possible with an add-on (although it may have problems with pure
numeric file names):

There is a new add-on that creates an attachment search tab under Tools:
