Hello all,

I need a little insight. Not sure this is a Thunderbird issue or
something else. Just recently while using Microsoft Word and I go
to File>Send & Save>Send as Attachment I get this warning that pops
up. It appears to be from Thunderbird.

========================================================================
Confirm
Another application is attempting to send mail using your user profile.
Are you sure you want to send mail?
[CheckBox] Warn me whenever other applications try to send mail from me
OK or Cancel
========================================================================

After I click on OK I get a Word pop up that says the following
========================================================================
Word couldn't send mail because of a MAPI failure: "Bad recipient type"
[Show Help >>]
[OK] [Help]
========================================================================

Clicking on help gives the following:

========================================================================
This error can occur if you attempt to send a Word
document as an e-mail attachment in Word and the MAPI
session was closed and Word is no longer able to
connect to that MAPI session. It can also occur if
there is a problem with the fax configuration.

To correct a MAPI related error: restart the MAPI e-mail
program (for example, Outlook) or save an close the
document, and then restart Word after restarting your MAPI
e-mail application. Word will establish a new MAPI
session, allowing the the document to be sent.
========================================================================

So I have done all of that a number of times and nothing changes.
This just started in just the past few days. Never before.
I do recall seeing a screen flash blurp about Thunderbird had done
an install of an update very recently.

Now running 60.5.2 (32-bit)
Word is Version 14.0.4734.1000(32-bit
OS is WIN10

Is there a possibility that it may have caused this to happen
or is there some other reason??

Thanks for any insight!!

Les

Is Thunderbird your default mail client in Windows 10?  Can you check this by going to:

Settings >> Apps >> Default Apps

You should see something like this:

Good Guy,

As shown, Yes that is the correct.

Which it has been for years now.

Your next thought??

Thanks,

I am presently using the 32-bit TBird update to 60.5.2, and have been
shown the same error message when attempting to send email via TBird on
a Windows 10 Home x64bit desktop.

If I correctly understand what has been written in the forum comments on
this bug, the work-around is to do an install of 60.5.2 over the
existing update to 60.5.2.

Please give me a link to download a 60.5.2 installation file.

TNX.

Regards,

VinceB.

Hi Wayne:

I found this link: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ in
comment #30 by jorg K.

Happyly, I have done the re-install, and sending email via TBird is
working for me.

However, when clicking on the Send (this message now) button, I am
getting the spell checker triggered; that did not happen previously.

<TNX> .

Go to your settings and disable checking of spellings before sending.  There are two items you need the first one.  The second one is necessary if you want your spellings to be checked as you type.  Or you could disable that also if you are so confident of your spellings.
