For the past few days Thinderbird has refused to send email with a 6.6.0 error.

Googling didn't give many clues. Shutting down and restarting - no effect. Reboot - nothing [ it was getting a bit "doggy" and a reboot was kind of called for anyway ] Restarting without addons - nothing.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

Thunderbird 60.

The following applies if you received a bounce or rejection E-mail
message:

Look at the bounce or rejection message's raw source. I have an older
version of Thunderbird, and the raw source can be seen by selecting
[View > Message Source] on the menu bar.

Generally, an error code such as 6.6.0 will appear in the header section
with a brief description of the error and a link to more details. Visit
the link for details of why you cannot send the message.

It's not a message. It's just a popup box:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 6.6.0 Error sending message for delivery. Please check the message and try again.

Found out Thunderbird is not OAuth compatible for ATT/Yahoo. Got a new "Secure Key" to use instead of the normal password. Went to Preferences > Security > Saved Passwords and changed all my passwords to the new key.

Still doesn't work. Same message from the server.

Are you using TB 68.2.1 or an older version? If you are using an older
version, it might help to toggle pref
general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to true…

I have Thunderbird 60.9.0 in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. According to the PPA for Ubuntu that is the latest version available.

I know there are later versions but being a long time non "geek" [ said respectfully ] I typically use only what is available from the repositories. The command line is not my friend.

Thunderbird 60.9.0 should support "OAuth2 authentication for Yahoo and
AOL" according to version 60.0's release notes.

It says it is but obviously isn't because it doesn't work. Jumped through all the hoops.

Some years ago there was a PPA that had newer versions of Thunderbird that you could use to keep it up to date. Seems to no longer be the case. At one time I even had the "nightlys" that were updated every day. The bleeding edge version. Ran in parallel to the stable version. That doesn't seem t be available anymore either.

Same problem here. Secure keys made no difference. Is this something Mozilla can update for? My client is rather annoyed that his client stopped working, and he really doesn't like the web interface for Yahoo mail.
