Hello,
linux 4.1.21-14-default x86_64
tb 38.7.0
enigmail 1.9.2

I got an error message from Enigmail complaining about the GPG setup.
I went to the indicated website, <https://enigmail.net/faq>, got blocked
by FF about a totally bogus SSL certificate.
Further investigation shows that the Enigmail website is broken:
(paraphrased) "Due to a configuration error ..." you may now piss off.
A web search shows no discussion about the broken site or broken
operation.

Does anyone know what the story is?

Don't know where you got that URL. It is not an SSL-secured page. That
is not even the URL they use in the "FAQ" selection in their navbar at
their web site. Looks like you are using an old and out-of-date
bookmark. Use HTTP (instead of HTTPS) with the URL that you mentioned.
That page then redirects you to:

https://www.enigmail.net/index.php/en/faq?view=category&id=14

That's what happens when a web site undergoes maintenance or updates.
Too often the web admin doesn't edit their pages (along with their nav
paths) in the background and then push them out all at once. There is
also a problem with caching at the clients which have the old pages
instead of the new ones.

I don't use Thunderbird for web surfing. Presumably it will cache the
downloaded files just like a web browser. Have you flushed Tbird's TIF
(temporary internet files) cache and any web cache it uses?

It is the URL provided by the error message.
It is the same URL a web search returns, less the "/faq".

So. A site about privacy and security has significantly messed up
security certificates. Hmph.

Thank you for the correct URL.
