Hello All,
I'm use some LDAP server and i'm conected into this server. I can search
people for example by typing * i get all people from my server, but i
want use offline "download now" function. This doesn't work any time.
Only Java console drop three times error:
Error: [Exception... "'Failure' when calling method:
[nsIAbLDAPAttributeMap::setCardPropertiesFromLDAPMessage]" nsresult:
"0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "<unknown>" data: no]

My questions is:
1) what LDAP server have i use with? (some opensouce solution will be
better)
2) or what i have do to solve this problem?
3) i doesn't suppose that is a bug, but if any body have same problem
reply on this note and we will report this to bugzilla

Thx a lot... Hook

Any LDAP server should work.

I believe the exception isn't a problem, though it should probably be fixed.

You do realise that to use the downloaded address book you need to be in
offline mode? It's under file in the main mail window.

With recent builds of Thunderbird you can turn on logging to ensure the
address book is doing what you think it is when you are downloading. See
here http://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:LDAP_Address_Books#LDAP_Logging
for more information.

I enable log mode into file and i find out that Thunderbird DOESN'T bind
to LDAP as user...

0[2d44f0]: nsLDAPOperation::SimpleBind(): called; bindName = '';

i suggest from line above the item bindName is empty,
BUT bind-dn IS filled in dialog "Directory Server Properties -> General
-> Bind DN" for example : cn=hook,dc=localhost

I've just remembered this is already logged in the following bug:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316170

So unfortunately it won't work at the moment.
