Can I delete and reinstall Thunderbird without losing my mail and folders?

Don't "delete" -- rather "uninstall". Your mail and folders are held in
your profile; that is not removed by an uninstall. However, as always, it
is prudent to make a backup before drastic measures.

Yes; the uninstaller does not remove your messages.

Yes, but...

.... deleting and reinstalling often fails to solve 'the problem'.

The problem often isn't the 'installation' but something corrupt in the
profile. So, the new install using the old profile (which you want)
doesn't fix the issue.

Another question to consider is 'what problem are you trying to solve
with the reinstall?'.

View, Threads, All

Probably a good idea to create a backup of the profile folder, just in
case...
