I have noticed a longer than normal pause when replying to NG, first
a blank reply page loads and then the text. 1-2 seconds. Any
adjustments I can make to correct this?

Sounds like you have some add-on that executes on starting of msg
compose and result in this lag.
You can check it easily by starting Tb in safe mode[1].

Uninstalled the last 3 add-ons I downloaded, I didn't bother with the
safe mode or use the process of elimination.

It's called the 'brute force' method. Not subtle, but effective.

Boomerang, grammar (something), and Quote (something) but not remove

I use Quotefix. Does that sound like what you installed? It would help
if you could find the downloaded file, since there are quite a few
"Quote (something)" out there. ;-)

Update: What I thought was fixed actually wasn't. I'm now checking
with the AV disabled on email. ?? First few checks seem to be ok.

I do believe the delay is caused by my AV (Avast) Not sure of that
just yet, but sure looks that way.

Using the process of elimination, It appears as though the time lag
on replies was caused by my AV. I'll learn to live with it. <g>
Case Closed.

Giving your suggestion a try. My ISP provides Free McAfee, so I'm
giving it a try. So far so good. <fingers crossed>

Good luck with McAfee.... my ISP provided it free also. It had soooo
much crap running in the background my computer would barely run.
Didn't take long before I dumped it. My computer started running naked
through a field of lily's.
