Phantom email

I just had something weird happen. The little notification box popped
up, telling me I had just received an email from someone I know. But no
emails showed up in either my Inbox or my Junk folder. I emailed that
person, and she said she hadn't sent me anything. Has anyone ever seen
that before? Any idea what might have caused it?

I get phantom email notifications several times a day (TB17.0) Used to
happen in a previous version around 12.0 or 13.0 An update did away with
it, but now it seems to have returned.

FWIW, I've never seen phantom email notifications - probably because I
have the pesky email notification feature turned off :-)

Huh. I've been using TBird since it was called Netscape, and I've never
seen it before. Glad to know I wasn't hallucinating.

I like the notification feature, but it will sure turn pesky if it makes
a habit of this...
