IBM Connections supports Forums, either stand-alone or as part of a Community, and Thunderbird had been running fine off of the Atom (News) feeds (there is a bit of problem with the threading, but still quite usable), however recently the conventional userid/password access on a Connections instance was replaced by Single Sign On (SSO) (SAML), and Thunderbird (31.6.0 currently) seems unable to cope with it. I should note that Firefox seems OK with it, the Atom feeds when brought up there manually work fine, but not Thunderbird.

1. Has anyone else run into this?
2. Is there an add-on or extension that is applicable?
3. Other suggestion?

Still not much here by way of support under Thunderbird. Just a note that through experimentation, we have found that there is one working solution, which involves not going through Thunderbird for Atom feeds, but instead using Chrome with the RSS Feeder and Quicksearch plug-ins. I still prefer Thunderbird, the post threads and read/unread, tagging is superior, but if we cannot get Thunderbird to work through a SSO/SAML authentication layer, then we really do not have much choice but to switch.
