'Remove Duplicates' not removing duplicates

I am using TB 45.7.0 in Mageia Linux and the 'Remove Duplicates'
indicates some activity on the status bar but on completion nothing is
removed, or rather I can see many duplicates remaining.
This used to work but I don't know when it stopped, maybe a year or so
since I used it.
This is in regular email folders.

I have never seen "Remove Duplicates". How do you access that? What
duplicates are you trying to remove?

Remove Duplicates is a feature of Thunderbird I find how?

Is it an extension that stopped working? What version? When was it last
updated? Have you looked for an alternate?

Is it version 0.1.14 of the Remove Duplicate Messages extension from
Sept. 25, 2014, which "Works with Thunderbird 5.0 - 32."

Or version 0.3.12 of the Alternate Remove Duplicate Message extension
from March 2015.

We need more information.

Me and someone else discussed this before. The "Alternate" doesn't work,
at least it wasn't working at all in my TB24 when I tested it. I opened
a bug on MozDev but no one responded. The "Non-Alternate" has little
glitches but otherwise worked wonderfully in TB24. I am not sure I have
used it since I upgraded to TB38 so I don't know if it still works - I
don't have dups to delete at the moment.

I'm not much help, sorry, just wanted to say Alternate not working too
well even in supported TB24.

Thanks for all replies. I now realize that I am in fact using an Add-on
that I must have started using years ago. It is "Remove Duplicate
Messages - 0.1.14" Last updated 15th Feb 2017.

Reading the reviews for this it seems that different people have
different experiences, some good some bad.

Having read the recent reviews I tried checking individual folders with
up to 50000 mails in each and this works OK.
However checking from the top level 'Local Folders' finds 261000 to
check and then appears to hang without showing any results.

I will stick to checking individual folders.
