I just made the <forced> switch from RR to Comcast. Not my idea. I went
in to the Tools/Account Setting and changed everything that had
'Houston.RR.com' to 'Comcast.net. I changed the POP3 server name and the
SMTP server name to that supplied by Comcast Help desk. I sent an email
from the Comcast PC to this PC, but when I tried to send an email from
this (RR) PC to the Comcast PC, it was not delivered. I rebooted the
Comcast Thunderbird PC to no avail. Comcast PC 2.0.0.5, RR PC 1.5.0.12.
Any ideas where I might look?

changing account settings will not work because TB "remembers" old
settings (in ways I don't understand and for reasons I don't
understand). It is necessary to create new accounts for comcast and
then move mbox contents as it suits you.

Thx, Irwin. Can I just dump the folder with its profile, and then copy
it back, leaving the new acct untouched? Or, just how do I move mbox
contents?

Assuming you create a new account in the same profile, you can copy and
paste [oldacct..inbox] to [newacct..inbox] same for [sent, trash, etc.).
After this has been accomplished successfully, just delete the
contents of the old ones.

Again, thanks. You're a gem, Irwin.

You are correct in that the only things you need to change are the
incoming (POP) and outgoing (smtp) server names and any related values
such as your userid, From address, and possibly your passwords. I've
done it on numerous machines and across many ISP changes.

If I'm reading your note correctly, you were successful in changing the
incoming and outgoing servers from Roadrunner to Comcast and are able to
send mail. You did not indicate if you are able to receive mail at your
new Comcast e-mail address. If you haven't already, you should try
sending yourself an e-mail from your Comcast address to your Comcast
address.

You also indicate that when you try to send e-mail from a different PC
that still has the Roadrunner outgoing smtp server that that mail was
"not delivered". From your note we can't tell what "not delivered"
means. Did the note bounce and you've received a bounce message on the
sending PC? Did you simply never see it in your Comcast e-mail account?
Can you receive any mail at your Comcast e-mail account?

Yes, I sent myself an email from the RR machine, and it was never
delivered at the ComCast (CC) machine. No bounce message, no indication
of any problems, just never arrived. As far as I can tell, it went into
the bit bucket. I've just received word from another correspondent that
she sent me an email during my testing time, and it never arrived,
either. Thanks for your input.

Can you receive any mail on the Comcast machine? Can you receive mail
that you send to yourself from that machine?
