My address book suddenly is not displaying in the side bar when
composing or forwarding an email. Normally whenever I send an email my
address book is automatically displayed in a side bar on the left. I
just need to click on whichever address I want to send an email. Now
that option seems to be gone. How do I get it back?

Press the F9 function key or select View from the menu and put a check
mark next to Contacts Sidebar when you are in the composition window.

Press F9. It's a toggle.

Thanks. the F9 key works. Hopefully it will stick. However there is no
option for the Contact Sidebar under View....or anywhere else that I
looked.

Not even when you have the Composition Window open? I see Toolbars,
Zoom, Contacts Sidebar, a divider, then Message Security Info under View
in the Composition Window.

To open the Addressbook window, you can use the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl-Shift-B.

Why would anyone need to open the Address Book window to access
something in the Composition window?

Sure, but that's the Address Book, not the sidebar in Compose window.

No, I do not have that menu in the compose menu. All I have is Send,
Spelling, Attach, Security and Save.

Those are buttons, not the menu. You have to click on "View" in the top
menu, just as my picture shows.

You have the Toolbar but no Menu Bar. Nonetheless, you can still use F9 to
toggle the Contacts Sidebar

Use F10 or alt to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily. Go to
View|Toolbars and tick the checkboxes if you want the Menu Bar permanently
visible.

Right click on that "Send, Spell, etc." tool bar and select "Menu
Bar" from the drop-down.

If you don't see that menu at the top of your screen, hit the Alt key on
your keyboard and it should appear.

You can hide the menu bar in a composition window in the Windows
version? It is always visible here on Linux. Only the Menu Bar for the
main window can me hidden.

The Composition Toolbar can be hidden in the composition window. My menu
bar is always visible.

There is also a toolbar button for the address book. Put it on the
toolbar and click it, and the address book window will open.

That's true, of course, but is not a solution for the problem that Sharon
stated. A separate Address Book window is not a Compose window sidebar.

Open "Write" then press either F9 or F10. Mozilla Support says F9 but that didn't work on my notebook so I pressed every F key and found F10 worked.

Or View > Contacts Sidebar (after opening "Write")
(F9 did work for me)
