Those links don't actually explain why the decision was made to take SUMO
down, nor give any idea of when it'll be up again. Is there anything we can
do in the mean time? Disable the forums if that's part of the load, or even
disable logging in? Change the in-product help redirects to the current
page that's showing if we go to SUMO?
Combination of the 2.0.0.13 release and latest Minefield builds using
sumo for in-product help really did a number on the entire cluster
(bugzilla was down for a while.)
The sumo app was (is) not optimized to handle the load, and went live
for in-product help without load testing. We're creating a temporary
in-product static page on www.mozilla.org for in-product help topics.
Changing the redirects from fx3 is worth a shot and is what I suggested
in the irc channel. Chris has created a temporary, static page at
http://www.mozilla.org/support/inproduct which could serve this purpose.
morgamic has been informed and hopefully we can try to re-enable sumo
before the end of today.
Sorry about the lack of info here -- this decision to take SUMO down
caught me off-guard as well. :(
