I seem to have messed up an installation of Euroda 8 Beta 3 on my home
computer by mucking around in the profile's mail folder, deleting what I
thought was duplicate account folders.

Now, when I uninstall, then reinstall, the process doesn't give me a
clean install. Incoming mail shows the account name under WHO and not
the sender for example.

Can someone tell me how to do a complete cleanup (removal) of Eudora on
a Vista machine? Aside from Program files, and the Thunderbird and
Mozilla in the Free Roam appdata, where else are files being installed?

Thanks in advance!
Scott

OK, from my understanding, Eudora is similar to Thunderbird.
So, if that is the case, then you need a lesson on
Thunderbird.

All your settings, mail, passwords, etc, are stored in an
area called the Profile. This profile is kept separate from
the program directory. When you uninstall, all you're doing
is removing the program. The profile is not touched. When
you reinstall, it picks up that profile and starts using it.

Now, since I don't know the Eudora set up, and only
Thunderbird, I'm giving you the instructions for
Thunderbird, so you'll have to look around the Eudora
settings to find something similar.

In TB, you would click on Tools, Account Settings, select
the account you want, and under Server Settings, on the
bottom right is an area called Local Directory. This
contains the location on your hard drive. You only want up
to Profiles. Close the program, and locate this directory.
Remove everything under Profiles. Don't delete them, just
remove. Reopen TB, and you should get the profile manager
asking you to create a new profile.

Warning: in windows, the TB profile is hidden. If you were
using XP, then I'd tell you how to unhide window files by
letting you read this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspx

But since you're using vista, I don't know how to do it.
You'll have to look around for something similar.

Thanks for the response. I think there's something more involved. I've
done the uninstall, then under Vista you go to the user Appdata folder,
then Roaming folder where I've deleted the Mozilla and the Thunderbird
folders. But this didn't seem to bring up a profile manager.

I ended up deleting these two folders, as well as the program folder,
then copied over the same folders off my Lexar Lightning, since I have a
good install of Euroda 8b3 I run with Argo. This seems to have fixed
things for the moment.

Cheers,
Scott
