Hello,

I am having trouble getting InstantBird to connect to our OpenFire chat server. I am using XMPP. I can connect using the same server settings with Spark, and Pidgin, however, it would be preferable to use your product, since it works better with the screen reading software we need to use. All I am getting when I attempt to connect is "SSL Handshake failed". Is there a log that is available that tells me in more detail why the SSL handshake is failing?

Current settings:
Under Advanced Options-->Connection Security, Use old-style SSL is selected, and "Allow plaintext" is checked. The port has not changed from 5222 default.

Hi all,

In order to spark the discussion again, I am also having problems connecting to OpenFire server using Instabird. I also can connect using Spark and Pidgin and Miranda.

Some Googling tells me that https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=954534 this might be the cause - the certificate that OpenFire server is using is not trusted. This may be true (I really don't know since I don't administer this OpenFire server) since Pidgin and Miranda complained about certificate on first connection. It just looks like that Instabird won't display cert exception dialog with the default implementation of XMPP.

Patrick Cloke in this comment (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=954534#c67) kindly suggested me to add an exception for my company's server certificate, but the suggestion he provided did not work. Simply the dialog for adding security exception would say "No Information Available" after I put https://IP:port in the Location.

Is there any other way to get around this? How can I enable some debug logs so we can know what is the problem?

Thanks!
