With SM I have an e-mail account configured to leave a copy of the new
messages on the server unless they are moved or deleted from Inbox. If I
delete the attachment of a message, then the whole message is deleted
from the server.
I was wondering if it is possible to delete an attachment from a message
but keep the body of the message on the server.
I just tried this, and I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. Sent a
message with an attachment to an account which, under TB, was configured
to Leave On Server; received it under TB; deleted the attachment; opened
a Seamonkey client which had the same account configured; fetched mail:
message was there (with attachment).

With POP, no, I don't think that's possible.
Please dont ASSUME it extends to other products. You should post this
problem to the SeaMonkey group
I agree! If you did not do a "Get Messages" the changes are not passed
on the server.
Just tested with TB 1.5.0.5. Same issue. Never described it as a problem...
I had not -- but I just retried the test, and *did* do the explicit Get
New after deleting the attachment; and my second client was still able
to retrieve the message.
Did the 2nd client retrieve the message without the attachment? Is it a
POP account? Are you testing with TB 2a? Just trying to figure out
what's different between my case and yours.
The message arrived at the 2nd client with the attachment; I would have
been very surprised if the attachment were not there. Yes, POP mail;
yes, TB 2a1; I would have been using the 0821 build yesterday.
But: someone has opened a bug about this problem:
http://mozillanews.org/bugzilla_warning.php3?id=333005
And David Bienvenu's comment there indicates that you are not simply
hallucinating. :) I don't know why I didn't see the symptom when I
tested.
Thank you for that link!
It may be different in TB 2a or it may be what is allowed by the POP server.
