I've noticed the FF spell checker works on all the sites I go to, with the
exception of eBay. Whether I'm typing in the search field, or leaving
feedback, the spell checker doesn't work. Does anyone else see this
problem, and if so, is there a way to fix it. I have no clue if the issue
is with FF or eBay.

I'm running FF 2.0.0.5 on Win2k SP 4, on this machine, but I noticed the
same problem on my other machine, which is running FF 2.0.0.9 on XP SP2.

If this issue was brought up before, I apologize. I could not find it doing
a search. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The spell checker normally only works in multi-line input fields. The eBay
search and feedback fields are single-line fields, so it doesn't work by
default. This can be fixed easily.

Type about:config into your location bar.

Type spell into the filter area.

Look for the line that shows layout.spellcheckDefault .

Double-click on that line and change the value to 2 .

If it is already set to 2, then I don't know what the problem is. Spell
checking works in both feedback and search fields for me, using Firefox
2.0.0.9, and has since they introduced the feature back in Firefox 2.0.

layout.spellcheckDefault values can be set to any of:

0 Disable spellchecker.

1 Enable spellchecker for multi-line fields.
(Default in Firefox and SeaMonkey)

2 Enable spellchecker for multi-line and single-line fields.
(Default in Camino)
