So I "upgraded" to Fx 64.x and now Live Bookmarks are gone. I know I can
go back to ESR 60.x, but that's just postponing the problem. Mozilla
refers to:

<https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/feed-reader-replacements-firefox>

and

<https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/collections/mozilla/refined-reading/>

I've chosen Livemark, but I'm not really happy with it. I could try them
all, but I prefer asking here first: which one(s) of those add-ons
resembles Live Bookmarks the most?

I don't like Livemark because it doesn't show a favicon in the Bookmarks
Toolbar and you can't see which items are read or not. Are there any
add-ons that /can/ ?

Livemarks is definitely the most like Live Bookmarks. I switched to a
combo of Livemarks and FeedBro. I use Livemarks for frequently updated
high volume feeds and FeedBro for relatively rarely updated feeds. I
only open FeedBro when there's something new (includes toolbarbutton
with badge showing quantity of new items). I don't think it's possible
for addons to alter a bookmark's favicon, but read/unread has been
frequently requested and I expect Livemarks to eventually add that.
Actually it's already been done (see
https://github.com/nt1m/livemarks/pull/4), but hidden due to bugginess.
I actually hand-edited my copy once to unhide it, figuring a buggy
implementation to be better than none. But I quickly tired of having to
re-edit every time there was a new update.

You can also search AMO for 'rss' which gives a lot more alternatives
which might suit your needs, but nothing else I've seen/tried has been
much like Live Bookmarks.

This recent blog mentions a couple of RSS addons:
https://blog.zgp.org/firefox-extensions-list-2018/

Not tried them: I prefer standalone programs.

/s Brief for FeedBro (I tried FeedBro before switching to Brief.)

The latest version (recently released) of Livemarks now includes the
read/unread feature!

That's interesting. Now for that favicon in the Bookmarks Toolbar... :-)
