Hi there,

I'm looking for a way to change the default download action in Firefox
for files with .rdp extentions. Currently these files open up as plain
text in firefox and I want to instead associate them with the Microsoft
Remote Desktop client (which is available for both Windows and OS X).

In IE I am able to just click on these files and then select open and
the correct program is launched. The command line that is executed is

mstsc.exe "%l"

If there is a way for me to create an extension or a pluggin to mimic
this behavior than that would be acceptable too... I just don't really
know where to start.

Thanks for any help,

Sam

In Firefox , goto Tools>Options>Downloads>View & Edit Actions.
Look for .rdp file type. if it is listed there , select it and click on
'Change Action' button

Thanks but it isn't listed so I'm looking for a way to add it to that
box.

(crosspost snipped.)

You add to that list by trying to download such a file. It sounds to me
like you just left click it and it opens if Firefox. That could be a
server issue.

Do you have a link to sch a file, so we could check it ouyt?

Won't mind at all :) in fact, the steps I took were as follows;

In IIS6, Select either the folder, or website you would like it to take
effect on. I selected the folder. Select properties, and the "HTTP
Headers"
tab. Hit the mime type button, and add rdp to the extensions, and
application/x-rdp to the value. Restart iis 6. browse to the site,
and
click the link. You should now be able to select an application to
associate with it, and I used c:\windows\system32\mstsc.exe.

Hope this is enough

Thank you again :)

Please be so kind as to bottom post in these groups, that is, post your
reply below the quoted material, as I am doing here. This is the group
preference. See the posting Guidelines, as linked in my sig, for more
information. Thank you for your consideration.

I am sorry, i can't really be of any help at all with references to
IIS6, being on a Mac.
