How do I get an ActiveX Plugin for Firefox 2.0.0.6? I see downloads for
up to 1.5.x but nothing for 2.0.0.6. Did I miss something or are they
just not available?

Thanks
Jim

Last time I looked at the ActiveX Plugin it was very complex, too complex
for this old man, has it been made any easier by now?

Thanks..

I never understood the need for Active-X. Its the number one method for
deliverying , virus and malware payloads to PC machines. Plus the
ability for any PC Webrowsers abilities to download and automatically
run exe files (in the Background) with no intervention from the PC owner.

On a Mac for instance you have to give permission at several stages of
installing any type of file. This is to prevent something coming in you
don't want to come in. Folks are too trusting. maybe that's the reason
virus writers love the PC Platform. PC users take everything on faith,
or don't know any better.

Or possibly because a very necessary Web Page insists on users using IE in
order to obtain data. The one that rankles me most is a genealogy page
that presents simply text data but forces me to use IE to obtain it. My
bank is the same way. I've argued with them till they are blue in the face
but it does no good, they don't know Active X from active sex! :-(

See: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows-all.html#ActiveX . I use the
Firefox 1.5 plugin on both Seamonkey 1.1.6 and Firefox 2.0.0.6 and it
works almost always. Note that it is only intended to work with the
Windows Media Player.
