When I start up my computer, firefox opens automatically. Then it sits there and drinks coffee or eats a donut and is unusable for 3 or 4 minutes, when it will finally go to a website. I can let it be open for 2 minutes, click on Opera, and opera will still open a website faster than firefox, even with firefox getting a 2 minute headstart. You guys need to fix this, it did not used to be like this at all. People will be dumping this like crazy, no one has that much time to waste. I have been using this software since netscape, sure I am old fashioned, did not like internet explorer, like google even less, but loyalty has limits. Please fix your software so people can utilize it. Thanks.

Does it re-open large numbers of previously used tabs?

This is a support area for users, and largely by users, the developers
are not here ....

Well, what version of Firefox are you using on what operating system?

When I'm on Windows 10, I've noticed any applications I start sits
there, drinks coffee and eats a doughnut when I start Windows and it is
checking for updates and whatever else it does while the applications
are starting.

Maybe it is the slower processor and less memory my Windows laptop has
compared to my Linux desktop.

My FF on the slow laptop opens in exactly 1.9 seconds.
How fast is yours with all tabs, add-ins, and plugins disabled?

Shouldn't happen, what is your system configuration. (i.e memory? cpu?
os?) Did you try running in safe mode?

Don't write subject in capitals, on the internet it is commonly used to
express anger.

While I don;t think it is Firefox, we need more info. What are your full
system specs? Meaning, what CPU and speed, age or model of machine, how
much RAM and what type, what OS, 32 or 64-bit OS, 32 or 64-bit Firefox,
which Firefox version, speed and type of hard drive, how much hard drive
space free.

Although I don't have my FF set to start on Windows load, if you have
anything *less* than an SSD for that, yes, of course it will load slowly
because Windows has to load a bunch of services and there are likely
other background programs loading as well.

I have an old Latitude E6500 and Firefox 68.0.1 x64 starts in about 2
seconds. But what helps is I have an SSD.

Which OS? Version?
Which version of FF?

If you are using Windows 8 or 10, the OS itself can be exceedingly
slow to start. It may take several minutes before it is ready to start
an app.
I have a laptop with the world's slowest hard drive. When I start
windows cold, I go for a coffee break, read mail on my phone, practice
my guitar, annoy the neighbors, etc.

It only took 6 hours for mine to update from Version 1809 to 1903.

It appears joefred has abandoned his query.

I had what should have been a very fast machine (4GHz 8-core), but it
was really slow to boot. Installing a SSD made a big difference. The OS
portion of the boot is now nearly instantaneous.

Some laptops make it easy to change drives. Some don't.

Wow! Fast!
Does that include the 5 reboots?

I wasn't paying attention to how many reboots.

I have similar issue since long time ago. I have ~500 tabs restored that time (now is ~1000 tabs) which I believe is the root causes of startup spends ~5+ minutes. I can't prove the root cause now because I don't want to closed all the tabs until I has time to backup the links manually.
