Sorry, was just thinking of an old TV commercial, I think it was for
Beechnut Gum?

Anyway... I'm having a strange problem in Facebook.

Whenever I try to view a video, I get perfect audio but Striped Vertical
Lines instead of a picture!
If I click on the slider at bottom, I can see the images during various
moments throughout, but nothing while in normal viewing mode. I haven't
changed any settings and have never had this problem before, so I think it
might be related to the "Upgrade" to v55.0.2 but have no way to check it. I
*did* try going on Facebook and viewing the very same videos with Chrome
instead of Firefox, and had no problems at all.

I hope I've asked the right questions, and that someone actually understands
what I'm trying to say? <g>

Thanks in advance!

Neil, is there any way you can post a screenshot of what you are seeing on the screen for us to understand the problem?  You can use this link to post your screenshot and post a link here:

if the video is overlaid in hardware by the GPU, it might just show up
as a black rectangle in a screenshot.

Then you should  be using a snipping tool or something similar for your operating system if screenshot is not something that you can manage properly.

Two suggestions I often see when videos have issues playing are:

1. Make sure your gpu (graphics) drivers are up to date. If this is on a
Windows machine, do not trust Windows Update because it often delivers
old and partial drivers; instead, check the site for your video card.

2. If the above doesn't fix it, turn off hardware acceleration. The
position of this setting has moved recently and now in Firefox 55.0.3
one would go into Options -> General, scroll down to "Performance" and
uncheck "Use recommended performance setting" to reveal "Use hardware
acceleration when available." It is this setting ("Use hardware
acceleration when available") that one may have to un-check.
