Yahoo showing up on my Mac

What is up with Yahoo showing up when i am used to fire fox? Is it secure?? When i check firefox it says it is up to date. What is going on. My dad is a mac user he says that some reason Yahoo has taken over. I know nothing about yahoo.

What do you mean Yahoo showing up?  Are you talking about the default search engine?  If so then Yahoos is now officially the default search engine in Mozilla Firefox and Safari Web browsers.

Yahoo's search engine is powered by Microsoft's Bing and I see no reason why it can be unsecure.  It is as secure as possible like many other search engines.  If you search for hacking tools you get hacking tools.  That is just the search tool's job to do, right?

You are still using Firefox. Yahoo is simply a site and also a default
search facility, that's all. The browser is still Firefox and you can
change to whatever search facility you like. I applaud Mozilla getting
away from Google, though I think they did it for reasons other than privacy.
