FF17: Prevent Redirection to Another Page

While in Google's Contact pages, FF17 gave me the message "Firefox
prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". My
son saw the same message while doing his college application.
What is causing this?
What can I do about it?

If there is a check-mark in the setting
[ ] Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page
then remove that check-mark.
