Anyone know were I can download the older versions of FF? Latest release of FF just crashes and freezes on my machine.
Thanks
Pete

Older released versions can be downloaded from
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ (similarly
mutatis mutandis for other products); but maybe it would be better to report
the crash (using Talkback if you have installed it as part of a Full or Custom
install of Firefox), try to find out what causes the crashes (and temporarily
avoid that).

Note: In the above-mentioned directory, "granparadiso", "3.0b1" and "3.0b2"
are actually advance versions of Fx3, which has _not_ yet been released.

Best regards,
Tony.

Thank you for the info. Next question, can I just install the older version over the newer version or do I have uninstall the newer version?
Thanks again

If the two versions are close enough to each other (such as 2.0.0.11 and
2.0.0.10) it's "probably" OK to install one over the other. The farther away
the versions, the riskier this method however; it's always "more prudent" to
uninstall-reinstall (and it normally won't lose your settings and add-ons,
which are in your profile). If you switch to a much older version, you may
have to check your extensions too, and possibly replace some of them by older
versions, because the newer versions of the extensions support only the newer
versions of the browser.

Best regards,
Tony.

I would uninstall the present version before installing the one you just
downloaded. Before resorting to older versions, I would try to find out
what is causing the crashing and hanging. Have you tried a new profile?
You can back up the important files from the old one first. See these

fwiw, I put the granparadiso version on moms Ubuntu 7.10 and it works
pretty good, the little I played with it.
Bookmarks imported ok. Bookmark management is a bit funky... drag and
drop 'feel' has changed and takes some getting used to.
Only went that route because Firefox 2.0.0.11 would close when getting
driving directions in yahoo maps and no amount of flash plugin swapping
fixed it. (see my post in a.o.l.u for details.)
