I don't have a question, but prayer might be helpful.
I simply wanted to introduce this group to a new environment that has arrived, and it was a surprise for me.
My router is retired!
The fiber jack was mounted in the wallboard and is powered from the Google fiber Network Adapter using P.O.E (Power over
Ethernet). It has only the one jack. No other connections.
The network box has 4 ethernet ports, and wireless.
....and Google VOIP adapter on Ethernet (now on my switch) accessory box for $10/mo. It has an unused USB port, but I
don't know why, yet.
When I installed the network box, I was prompted for configuration of the wireless. I chose the same ID and password as
my router had. Nothing else was configured.
I do have some other networking complications that would be rare. I don't have it all worked out yet, but I have worked
around it for now.
My home network is on a 32 port switch which has several 'children" 4-port switches... and My IP security cameras on a
Linux NVR at:
192.168.1.2 (it was there before my migration to Google),
and 8 IP camera ports, 4 of which are P.O.E and not configurable @ 192.168.254.1 --
