Dear Sir/Madam,
I have Firefox 3.02 on a Windows XP Pro machine.  My firewall is Comodo Firewall Pro, which asks me after Firefox add-on updates if I want to allow Firefox to act as a server.  I, of course, tell Comodo "Yes."  When Firefox attempted to load some add-ons today, I told Firefox to find the updates.  That's when my problems started.

Neither my Home Page: http://www.foxnews.com/, nor any bookmarked page will load.

I keep getting this error message:
"Address Not Found

Firefox can't find the server at: www.foxnews.com, or: http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php.

The browser could not find the host server for the provided addresses.

    * Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g. "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org")
    * Are you certain this domain address exists?  Its registration may have expired.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites?  Check your network connection and DNS server settings.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy?  Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing."

The problem isn't with my cable modem, because I can access the Internet with IE.

What's wrong?

Try starting FF in safe mode to see if one of your add ons is the culprit:

For information about safe-mode see:

Thank you Squaredancer,
I would never have thought to look in Comodo. All instances of Firefox
showed BLOCKed. I don't know how that happened. I always ALLOW Firefox.

You mentioned that Firefox 3.02 was bad. Is version 3.03 any better?

Thank you again,
Lanny

To avoid these problems use PC Tools' Firewall Plus. It's free and you
don't get that kind of crappy behaviour. :)

"Firefox.exe has changed .. still let it loose ?"

Yes

Problem solved.

Don't know why other firewalls can't get their act together. :?)

I have used both Zone Alarm Free and COMODO firewalls and never had the
problem with ieither ever blocking Firefox. It all depends on the
firewall setup or so it would saeem. BTW in case you didn't know COMODO
is also free.
