I would like to get cnn.com. I've tried every trick I've
read about. I continue to get the screen that says WMP is
not installed. There is no option to go ahead and play the
video becuase it doesn't know WMP is installed at all!

All the correct files are in the plugin folder (at least I
think so). Active X is working as tested on the recommended
FF site.

But - on one of these tip sites there is a tip to edit the
registry:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\MOZILLA.EXE]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\PHOENIX.EXE]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\MOZILLAFIREBIRD.EXE]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\FIREFOX.EXE]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\SEAMONKEY.EXE]

I can get to hklm\software\microsoft\mediaplayer.
I can find ShimInclusionList
But then what?

Do I make a new string value, dword value, key??? What do I
do?

I'd really appreciate it if someone could be specific about
the step AFTER you find the folder in regedit.

Thanks

Louise

you're supposed to save the registry patch to your hard drive, then
right click and select Install [or something like that].

BTW: You add a New Key and thats it.

CNN does not require ActiveX to play videos in Firefox. It did
at one time, but that is no longer true. I don't have ActiveX
and CNN videos play just fine in WMP 10 installed on my machine.
I initially had to allow popups for cnn.com.
