It is useful, but I don't like having to go to "Organize Bookmarks" to
see the ones that are there.
You can with this extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7269
If you add a bookmark with this "location" :
place:folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS&excludeItems=1&expandQueries=0
and place it in your bookmark toolbar you will get a drop-down menu with
them listed, the same arrangement as the 'smart bookmarks' folder.
I notice at least on my setup that in the 'unfiled bookmarks' folder, I
get an 'unfiled bookmarks' folder which contains an 'unfiled bookmarks'
folder containing all my unfiled bookmarks .. and an 'unfiled bookmarks'
folder containing all my unfiled bookmarks .. and an 'unfiled bookmarks'
folder containing all my unfiled bookmarks ..
Anyone else get that ? It's an automatic bookmark which has a seemingly
serious problem..
Not me, works as intended here (Fx 3.0 Win XP)
My method:
From Library, Click 'Bookmarks Toolbar' in left panel. Organize > New
Bookmark > (enter info).
BTW, place:folder=UNFILED_BOOKMARKS seems to do the exact same thing for me
without the &excludeItems=1&expandQueries=0
Some reason for adding that ?
Creating a bookmark with the same properties as you describe above also
gives the same problem .. I assume my profile or bookmarks are wombatted. ?
With or without 'patch for library' enabled I can't edit the bookmark as
it's a 'standard' one (at least I think so)..
I nervously deleted the folder in unfiled, and it went away. Now my
places work like yours even though they have the extra stuff on them.
I must somehow have created a bookmark of that sort at one time or
another while fiddling and not filed it .. or something. Without my
knowing even :)
Okay, you found a quicker method. I only use the BM sidebar when searching
bookmarks, so using the Library was just more natural to me.
> btw - *WHERE* do you have an entry titled "Library" ??
Bookmarks (menubar) > Organize Bookmarks (window that opens is titled
'Library')
Perhaps the idea is to organize the stuff in your Bookmark Library? Really
doesn't matter much to me.
Add-ons include both extensions and themes, so an extension is a type of
add-on.
