FF once again updeted itself again, even though I have sellected in
options, it Not do that..
Anyways, I have the information you all have provided me in the past
when I lost my bookmarks and settings in the past.
This time when I copied my bookmarks_2daysAgo.html to the default dir
and renamed it.
FF takes over a minute to expand the bookmarks when I click on the
button and about half that with subfolders. (once I wait for the root,
then sub folders once, successive clicks produce fairly fast display)
Would not be a big deal if it only took that long the first time, but
after leaving FF idel for a while, I have to go through the same thing
again, over a minute.
It was not like this yesterday and other than the XP (does not have
the (yeh, right)) blue screen of death, nothing has changed on this
workstation, software settings etc. Since the FF bookmark problem,
I've updated my FF from 1.5.0.1 to .7 and it acts the same.
The bookmarks.html is 3.05 MB, but is not the biggest I've had.
I know that the backup from yesterday was 3.06 MB and worked fine.
Any ideas?
The bookmarks are taking over a minute to "drop down".
I've gone as far as to use a back up from a week ago.. Same thing
I've exported thinking that if something was amiss, FF would clean it
up during export and then copy and rename as bookmarks.html
Same thing.
I just installed 2.0 rc3 and damn.. Same thing
Help!!
Any ideas?

I couldn't take it any more.. I've tried everything short of deleting
the bookmarks.
I ran the bookmarks.html thru html tiddy, but ... I didn't figure it
would pass, but thought perhapes a error would be obviouse..
Next,
I ended up starting with cleaning up the root folder (going too fast
some times things get put there instead of a sub folder)
That did it..
Bookmarks fly now.
Thanks for your help
Landis
Spoke too soon...
The root flies, but the subs are the same way...
currently going on 4 minutes to open a sub that up untill today took
about 3 to 5 secs to open..
Damn.
Landis.
Try two things:
1.As it seems to my that bookmark file is corrupted,
Use any other file from 'bookmarkbackups' folder .
Goto Bookmarks>Manage Boomarks>File>Import>from File.
select any other backup bookmark file from 'bookmarkbackups' folder .
Now check whether you are getting same problem or not with those
imported bookmarks
2.completely close Firefox
goto your profile folder
rename 'localstore.rdf' file to 'localstore.rdf.backup'
Start Firefox and check

The sub folders can take upto 5 mins to display the first time they
are accessed.
subsequent accesses are fairly quick..
What could have changed over night.
I did crash the system this morning trying to burn a DVD via ez cd/dvd
crator 6.
That still isn't working. I've wasted 6 dvd on that crap.
Anyways,
I have an HP business system with dual P4's and a Gig of rambus
running microsncks XP and a dual-head Maxtor, but none of that should
matter as FF was working this morning before crash..
HELP!
Thanks in advance,
Landis
