Hi,
I need to reformat my computer but I don't want to lose all my saved
passwords. Is there any way of exporting these and then importing them
when I reinstall Firefox?

inside the FF profile you fill find the files signons2.txt
[or signons.txt -- depending on the version you're using]
and key3.db. You need both files. Just copy them and put
them somewhere. When you've set up FF, all you have to do
is put the files back where you found them, in the new
profile. Of course, do all this with the program closed.

to find your FF profile you can read this:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit#profile

and if you're using windows then you must read this first:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspx
