In Firefox, I have browser.urlbar.autoFill set to "true" in
about:config, but autoFill doesn't work for even some of my most-visited
sites. For example, it doesn't work for http://www.mozilla.org/,
http://www.mozilla.com/, http://www.amazon.com/, or
http://www.newegg.com/. Instead, I have to either use the down arrow key
to move down in the list and press Enter, use the mouse to click the
selection in the list, or just finish typing the URL and press Enter.

It does work properly on some sites, though. If I just type the letter
"w," it autoFills all of "www.wikipedia.org/."

What am I missing here? Right now I'm using Firefox 3.6b1, but the
behavior has been this way for a while.

Thank you very much.

The following has information that may be pertinent to your enquiry:

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate it. I don't want to
disable autocomplete, though; I want browser.urlbar.autoFill to work
properly, not just sometimes.

I realize that. :-) Don't be fooled by the "Disabling_autocomplete"
phrase in the url though.

....which may require some tweaking.....that page outlines some of the
tweaks available. :-)

Thanks for replying again. I wasn't fooled by that phrase in the URL,
though. I actually did visit that web page and other pages that one
referred to and spent a good deal of time searching for the answer to my
problem but did not find it. As a matter of fact, that page doesn't even
mention browser.urlbar.autoFill. Before all of this, I spent an amount
of time with Google searching for the answer.

So I still wish to find the answer to why browser.urlbar.autoFill
doesn't work consistently on this computer. I do appreciate your reply,
though. Thanks again.
