hi,
I try to modify the setting for pdf files processing, replacing
"use acroread" by "Always ask", but it is ignored by ffx, which still
opens pdf files with acroread.
If I do that using an other account, it works.
My question is then: what other ffx setting is involved in the application
choice?
NB: I am on Debian, with ffx 21.0

best regards,

Does acroread install a plug-in? If so, you may be able to stop it via
Add-ons management.

hi Was,
you were right: it was this damned acroread add-on which overwrote the
preferences setting. Disabling it fixed the problem.
Thanks a lot.

In your options, applications tab look for an application titled

the time Firefox installed its own internal PDF reader.

Not sure what he means by other account (profile?).

Acroread is the plugin for Linux. I would go to Edit > Preferences >
Applications, look for Portable Document Format (PDF), and set the
preference there.

My preference is to use "Preview in Firefox", save the files that don't
render properly to view in my PDF app, and not have a plugin.

In the preferences/applications window, I put "pdf" in the search bar,
and I actually got the line you mention, and 2 others, but the problem
was not there (cf the 2 previous posts)

"other account" meant "other login", for which ffx settings were never
modified, and no add-on installed. It's why it worked..
