Want a preview of NS 9? Install the theme. :-)

Netscape is an AOL browser. I have nothing to do with either.

No it is not, Netscape is a Netscape browser sourced from Firefox. So I
guess you're not going to use FF now?

Dang! Went to the site, clicked on the link, nothing happened. Waited
about 20 seconds, clicked again, nothing. Then two Add-on windows
popped up, one with nothing in it, the other stating download error.
Then everything went wonky. Had to force it to close and then remove
the process.

It's a Mozilla addons site problem that was "supposed" to be fixed by
now. Thanks, I'll report it "again".

Doesn't AOL still own Netscape?

It's a theme. One, I might add, that has been offered back to the
community by Netscape.

It offers a very small profile with professionally crafted icons. If it
doesn't suit one's tastes because of flaws, that's something that can be
argued on the merits. However, when someone discounts it because of
emotional issue like what has been posted here, well, who can argue with
that?

As I understood him, Jay wasn't talking about the theme when he said
Netscape is a Netscape browser and not an AOL browser.

AOL didn't program it, the Netscape staff did even tho NS is owned by
AOL. AOL has their own staff which has nothing to do with programming
Netscape products other than budgetary concerns. My paycheck has AOL in
the upper left corner, doesn't bother me one iota. ;-)

I was more or less concluding that the reply was along the lines of
AOL-9 browser, etc. But now that I think about it, looks like a swipe at
AOL / Netscape of which I have no interest in pursuing.

However, one little point on the subject for the FYI of OldGringo.

AOL contributed a mountain of cash as well as several thousands or
hundreds of thousands of dollars of hardware to The Mozilla Foundation.
So maybe we can call Firefox/Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Thunderbird, AOL
applications?! :-)

Also, there is reciprocation alive and well between Netscape and
Firefox, we're friends so let's keep it that way!

Fair enough, although, your response was vague enough that it could be
construed as defending the emotionally-based attack on the theme by OG.
Thanks for clarifying it.

This is what Firefox came up with:

Yah, in retrospect, same here.

AOL contributed quite a bit to the formation of The Mozilla Foundation
so I guess that busts his little bubble now.

I had a guy once that swore up and down that he would NEVER in a
gazillion years support anything General Electric PERIOD !! I asked him
if he ever flew on United Airlines, knowing that he traveled quite a bit
from New Orleans to Los Angeles. He said "yes, all the time". I
responded, "next time you're up at 30,000 feet look out on the wing at
the engines, they're GE .. now what, wanna buy a chute?". :-)

Is that anything like making a donation to the Red Cross?

To help launch the new organization, America Online has pledged $2
million in cash to the Mozilla Foundation over the next two years.
AOL will also contribute additional resources through equipment,
domain names and trademarks, and related intellectual property, as
well as providing some transitional assistance for key personnel as
they move into the new organization.

Other industry leaders also offered their support to the new
organization: Mitch Kapor, the new Chairman of the Mozilla
Foundation, is making a personal contribution of $300,000, and Red
Hat and Sun Microsystems are among the companies planning to continue
their contributions to the Mozilla project.

Like they use to say when I lived in El Paso, "No brakes, No brains,
and No Frigging insurance".

PS: Isn't SeaMonkey Mozillas replacement for Netscape?

Pssst .. No, Netscape 9.0 is about to be released, probably sometime
after the weekend. NS 9 is sourced from FF 2.0.0.3. Seamonkey is a
continuation of the Mozilla project that abandoned (for lack of a better
word) the suite and opted to continue producing the standalones FF and TB.
