1. Click on the "Help" menu and select "Help Contents" (Windows/
Linux) or "Firefox Help" (Mac).
2. Enter a search term in the search box and press "Enter".
3. Browse through topics using the table of contents.
I cannot find a "Help" menu, "Help Contents," a "search box," or a
"table of contents" anywhere on my system.
My system is accessible to others. How do I eliminate my browsing
history? It keeps re-appearing in the Google drop-down box.
Thank you.
That's not the browser history; that's form history. And you can
right-click on the box and click "Clear Search History".

The "Help" menu is where almost all windows program help menus are: at the end
of the row that starts with "File". Or, you can just hit F1 (also the same as
almost all Windows apps). The search field in help is on the right (just under
the red X).
(1) To clear the _Google_ search drop-down, right-click in the field and select
"Clear Search History"
(2} To clear _URL_ history go to [Tools]>[Options]>[Privacy], in the "Private
Data" box click "Settings" and select what you want to clear and click "OK".
After setting these options, click "Clear Now". Set Firefox to clear private
data on exit if you wish. You can now clear this data without opening the
dialog box by simply hitting Ctrl-Shift-Del.
NOTE: If you set it to clear passwords you will be asked to confirm the clearing
every time.

This doesn't work on a Mac with Safari as the default browser. Anyone
know how to clear the search history in Safari?
this is mozilla.support.firefox so the instructions will work for
clearing the history in firefox.
To get information on Safari, you should ask in a safari newsgroup, or
even look it up on the supplied Safari Help (start Safari, click on Help
and type clear history in the box) you get this
To clear the entire list, choose History > Clear History.
?
To clear individual items from the list, click the open-book icon, click
History in the Collections (left) column, and then highlight the items
you want to clear and press the Delete key.
?
To have the history list automatically cleared, choose Safari >
Preferences, click General, and choose an option from the "Remove
history items" menu.
Note, the above refers to SAFARI only folks, not to be used for other
programs
