I know this is a problem a few people have had - but I don't think too
many.

I get a weird issue with text overlapping each other when i type into
any large text space in firefox. It happens in gmail, it happens in
facebook & it's even happening as I type now.

I did find an answer in the mozilla help forum, but tried it and no
fix. This is exactly the problem i'm talking about:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Text_overlaps_on_Mac .

I would really appreciate if one of you could give me a hand with
this...as you can imagine, it's a real pain in the backside when i
want to write emails...I have even resorted to using text editor (on
mac) and then copying and pasting.

Thanks for reading.Zee

I have exactly the same problem on my Mac. I suprised to see that this
problem has not been adressed so far.

This prevents me from using Firefox as my defaut browser; Instead I
use Safari (webkit browser). I found that this bug is redundant on any
Mozilla-based brower (e.g. Camino). Come one guys... let's solve that
thing.

Thanks.

Okay, both of you then.

Firefox OFF (Quit)

When you open Font Book, do you see the lists of Fonts? Do you see the
ones with the bullet after them?

Select each bulleted font in turn and then select
Edit-->Resolve Duplicates for each font with a bullet

you only have to do the font name i.e.

Ariel
will do Ariel Regular
Ariel Italic
etc

Fire up Firefox, any better?

This certainly doesn't fix it for me. I don't have any duplicate fonts
and it still does it.

fix what? You've removed the previous postings, now we don't know what
you're talking about.

Some of us are accessing this via the news.mozilla.org news server, and
not googlegroups. And some of us have our settings to view new postings
only. So, all the previous [old] postings are removed.

When you did what you did, now we don't know what you're talking about.
Next time, how about leaving some of the previous message, so we know
what you're talking about. Googlegroups now does this. When you reply,
the previous message is left in tacked, but you removed it.

Seems that it might be a kerning or tracking problem, try

CreativeTechs Tips: InDesign Quick Kerning, Tracking & Leading.

Don't know where you set it on a Mac, but I think only Macs
would have the ability to change character spacing, and it it probably only
one font that got messed up.

Hey guys, new to this discussion, but SOOOOO happy I came across
this! I've been trying to find answers for ages, but no dice. The
Duplicate Font resolution in Font Book didn't fix the issue for me,
and the kb mozzillazine link is broken. ANY other help??? SUCH an
annoying issue!

Seems to be some serious Denial of Service Attacks on major facilities.
mozilla.org is fine, but archive.org and Google are very slow right now.

The mozillazine article was about the duplicate font, so you will probably
have to pursue the other items. But can't get through for that article
myself so try the following to see that one article:

There is no copy at archive.org Paste the url into Google
search and click on the "cached" version which is (this link works right now):
