Hulu has suddenly become slow

I've been watching Hulu on firefox for ages. In fact, yesterday
morning I had no problem as I recall. Later on, though, I had a
problem where the video never loads and I have a perpetual hourglass
that hangs firefox until I close the window I have Hulu on.

I had very few addons apart from noscript and my AVG antivirus
program. I disabled the antivirus stuff completely, then I ended up
uninstalling AVG. I did a refresh of firefox. I moved the profile
directory, uninstalled firefox then reinstalled it from a freshly
downloaded installer.

None of that worked. I do have Spybot as well but I am pretty sure it
doesn't have realtime protection on. I could try mucking with that
and see, but it hasn't been causing an issue before. I mean, as far
as I know nothing had changed, although somewhat recently I did update
windows and I think firefox. I kind of think that happened before the
problem started.

Hulu works perfectly fine in chrome and loads videos fast there. I
have a pretty fast connection. But I prefer to use firefox for
basically everything. Are there some additional troubleshooting steps
I could try?
