For some unknown reason I lost all favicons.
Is there a way to reload/refresh the favicons?

Seems there's no addon for this job!!!

On Windows, Mac or Linux?

Do they reappear if you visit the site?

You are referring to the favicons when you list bookmarks, right? (This
would be either going into the Bookmarks menu, or on the tabs, but
favicons haven't shown in the address bar for a very long time.)

The favicons should reappear as you visit each site that has a
favicon.ico file in the site's home directory. (If the icon is old and
there is a newer icon, one might have to delete the bookmark and
recreate the bookmark.)

There used to be a couple of extensions, one which visited sites in
one's bookmarks that don't have icons, the other that visited all the
pages one had bookmarked to verify the bookmarks are ok. Unfortunately,
neither extension works with Firefox 52. So one is left with having to
manually go to each web site, though through the bookmarks menu one can
visit each subfolder quickly by clicking on "Open All in Tabs" (a pop-up
menu item when one right+clicks on a bookmarks folder, or if one has
"show bookmarks" and one clicks on a folder, at the bottom of the list
of bookmarks is "Open All in Tabs").

If visiting the site fails to fetch the favicons and the site has one,
go into config:about and check these two settings (both should be set to
True):

browser.chrome.favicons
browser.chrome.site_icons

If either is set to False, it can be flipped to True by double-clicking
on the line.

I'm on Windows 7 (64b) and yes when visiting web sites the favicon is
updated.

I've tried Opening all bookmarks and it does work.

With over 3000 bookmarks it's quite a job :-(
But at least I know I can update all my favicons.

Unfortunate that and addon is not available anymore

Thanks for your help
