In my control panel it states that I have FireFox 50.0.0. Also, I can't same window when I try to use FireFox Safe Mode. How can I fix this ?
Try this:
a) Move as much data as possible to an external drive to free up space
on your system.
b) Get better virus/malware protection, and install it. Use Internet
Explorer for this, it won't hurt you.
c) Get Revo Uninstaller, it's free, and use it to remove Norton.
d) D/l a fresh copy of Firefox.
e) Do a simple Uninstall of Firefox. Do not use Revo. Simple uninstall
will preserve your profile (bookmarks, etc)
f) Install fresh copy of Firefox.
g) Go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Update, and set FF to ask before
installing Updates, or never to check (you'll have to check manually).
If you get the Platform version error again, that will mean that the
newest Firefox won't work on Windows XP.
Unasked advice: get at least three more antivirus/antimalware programs
and run them every couple of weeks or so.
